Every year the MdbK receives a large number of catalogs, portfolios, illustrations, etc. sent in on the initiative. We ask for your understanding that we cannot respond to every submission. In addition, we generally cannot return this material, nor are we liable for it.

OPEN PROGRAMMES

The art education programme regularly offers workshops and discussion formats for children, young people, families and adults. Based on joint art viewings in the collections and special exhibitions, starting points are found for discussions and the testing of artistic methods and techniques.
The programmes do not require registration, the number of participants is limited.

Sprich mit mir! / Talk to me!
In this language tandem, German-speaking and German-learning women look at works of art together, exchange ideas and get to know each other's concepts and perspectives. A co-operation with Frauenkultur Leipzig e.V.

A dialogue-based guided tour through the collection or one of the current special exhibitions for the 60+ generation and all other interested parties.

During the summer, autumn and winter holidays, we invite all children and young people to our holiday workshops.

SCHOOL DIGITAL

The content on our digital platform Padlet is aimed at all class levels. Images, texts, background information and specific instructions enable a practical artistic exploration of selected works from current exhibitions.

Accessibility

WHEELCHAIRS AND STEP-FREE MOBILITY

The MdbK is accessible for visitors with reduced mobility. The museum entrances Katharienstraße and Böttchergäschen as well as all exhibition and service areas are accessible at ground level. The doors can be opened automatically and are labelled with contrasting markings.
The guidance system in Universal Design aims to  incorporate the needs of visually impared people with contrast markings at the entrances to the museum and on the stairs, tactile reliefs and Braille lettering in the stairwells. However, there is no floor guidance system in the museum.
Barrier-free toilets are located on the ground floor in the museum café and in the basement of the museum, which is accessible via a lift. The doors can be opened using a button.

AIDS

Assistance dogs are allowed in the MdbK.
A wheelchair and portable stools can be borrowed free of charge.

INCLUSIVE INFORMATION STATIONS

The MdbK has a total of seven inclusive information stations, called MdbK [hubs], which provide new access to works in the collection presentation. The MdbK [hubs] offer reliefs to touch and audio texts in easy language as well as videos in German sign language with further information. Further information on the project can be found here.

EVENTS

The MdbK regularly invites non-sighted and sighted visitors as weil as people with and without dementia to discussions about artworks. Speeches at exhibition openings, as weil as some public guided tours, are translated into German sign language.  All dates can be found in the calendar.
