Making stories visible
15/08/2025 — 04/01/2026

In/visible. Making stories visible is the title of a series of 30 portraits in which recipients, employees and so-called activists of Mobile Youth Work Leipzig e. V. introduce themselves and report on their experiences.
The occasion for "In/visible” was the 30th anniversary of the association, which was founded in 1993. The traveling exhibition developed for the anniversary, of which the MdbK presents twelve panels, is intended to make the wishes and demands of young people visible to the public and to initiate solutions or developments. In the exhibition on the freely accessible studio terrace of the MdbK, a small selection of literature also provides information on the current situation of children and young people.
Mobile Jugendarbeit Leipzig e. V. has the task of establishing contact with young people in the city districts who are confronted with social and individual problems, are marginalized or at risk of marginalization. The staff seek out the young people where they meet: in public places and streets. Visiting young people in their living environment is the essential basis for building a sustainable, sustainable and trusting relationship with them. The staff work with the young people to develop solutions and support them in developing appropriate resources.
The outreach approach makes mobile youth work the link between youth work/help, the public and young people. The association acts as a partner and mouthpiece for young people. The association works on a non-profit basis and is a recognized provider of independent youth welfare services. Its financial basis is based on funding from the City of Leipzig.
The MdbK offers its Studio Terrace as a place of participation and action space for presentations by initiatives, associations and institutions of Leipzig's urban society. As part of Leipzig's Museum Concept 2030, the MdbK, as a municipal institution, aims to be a “place of social discourse” that “maintains its connection to social reality” and to establish itself as a “third place” within the city.
