The beginning of the year belongs to the next generation: for almost 30 years, the Leipzig Children's and Youth Art Exhibition (Kijuku) has been presented at several locations in the city in January and February. Children and young people under the age of 21 from the Leipzig region can apply for the exhibition.  All artistic techniques are permitted:  Painting, graphics, sculpture, photography, collages, prints, videos or performances.

For the 28th Kijuku, from April to October 2023, children and young people were invited to create their own artistic works and submit them for the exhibition. They were free to explore the annual motto "I see something you don't!" or themes of their own choosing. A jury of young people and adults selected those works from the 369 submitted that will be exhibited in the participating institutions. All 369 works will be presented in an online gallery (www.kijuku-leipzig.de).

At the MdbK, the selected works will be presented on the terrace on the second floor. Admission is free.
Please note: The permanent exhibition on the first and second floors will also be open to everyone free of charge from January 1, 2024. And anyone under the age of 19 will also have free admission to all special exhibitions.

The City of Leipzig's Department of Culture and Haus Steinstraße are responsible for the children's and youth art exhibition.
