The Great Wall?
27/10/2017 — 16/09/2018
Wang Qingsong (*1966) has a history of being known as the enfant terrible of contemporary Chinese photography. His oeuvre combines traditional Chinese art and a staunch political rejection of everything normative. An artistic trademark of his work is a link to Chinese Pop Art of the nineteen eighties: the depiction of brand names within a loud and bold imagery captures a fast-changing environment in gaudy fashion. All the while, Quingsong’s artworks are in dialogue with China, as the artist unfolds his criticism of consumption, materialism and commerce in Chinese society. For the MdbKWang Qingsong realized “The Great Wall?”.
The exhibition is realized in cooperation with the Gesellschaft für Deutsch-Chinesischen kulturellen Austausch e.V.
