5th International Poster Exhibition Leipzig 2020

As part of the 5th International Poster Exhibition Leipzig 2020 and on the occasion of its tenth anniversary, the Leipzig association plakat-sozial e.V. is showing a selection of 23 posters by international artists in the MdbK.
Despite the knowledge that posters alone cannot prevent the injustices of the world, to the members it is a matter of concern to take a stand on pressing questions of the time. It is the declared goal of the association to draw attention to social problems with the means of poster art.
In 2011 plakat-sozial was founded for the promotion of visual culture in Leipzig and the for international exchange of ideas and artistic works by the art historian Sylke Wunderlich (*1958), the Dresden graphic artist Bernd Hanke (*1947), the typographer, poster and book designer and former professor of typography/ book design/ poster at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig (HGB) (Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig) Gert Wunderlich (*1933), the Leipzig painter and graphic artist Ulrich Stube (1955-2016) and the Leipzig graphic artist Jochen Fiedler (*1936).
295 artists from 31 countries followed the call for entries by plakat-sozial. The association of the Deutsches Museum Galvanotechnik in Leipzig will show all of the 84 selected posters plus 10 posters of the jury members from Oct. 24, 2020. Another partner is MZIN in Leipzig's Kolonnadenstraße. The store that specialises in local and international magazines, catalogues and books in the fields of art, design and visual culture, hosts a complementary selection of artist posters from the repertoire of plakat-sozial.
